North Shore Stroke Club

The North Shore Stroke Club is affiliated to the Stroke Foundation of New Zealand. The club, through a range of activities and meetings, provides essential peer and social support and are a vital part of the social rehabilitation that is needed following a stroke. Stroke Clubs are predominantly attended by people over the age of 65 and are administered by a dedicated team of volunteers. Both the average age of club members and volunteers has been increasing, to the extent that it was not uncommon for a number of club members to be in their eighties, with (in some cases) even older volunteers assisting them.
