DLC (originally known as EDLG) was formed out of the adversity of the Canterbury earthquakes and in response to the voices of our community we have evolved into a long-term network of connection and advocacy for and by disabled people and their whānau. We believe in a Christchurch and Canterbury where all people with disabilities enjoy full lives without barriers. Together with the local disability community, we develop access and wellbeing solutions that benefit all. DLC connects our community by facilitating regular disability community network meetings which provide support and opportunities for kōrero between disabled people, whānau and support networks with organisations and sector decision-makers. These meetings also highlight local and national accessibility and inclusion issues. We work to resolve these in partnership with organisations and authorities. We remind individuals, businesses and organisations to make events and spaces accessible for all to.
