Logo for Tree Crops Association, Nelson Branch

The Association had its beginnings in 1974, our local membership in Nelson covers most of the "Top of the South", comprised of 180 members. Nationally we are 1,700 people and 600 organisations. The New Zealand Tree Crops Association (NZTCA) grew out of a philosophy of seeking and sharing information about the many and varied types of trees we might grow in New Zealand to produce a useful crop, be it for humankind or animals. More specifically, we are a voluntary organisation that promotes interest in useful tree crops: fruit, nuts, timber, fuel, livestock fodder, bird and bee friendly and any productive tree crop of interests to our members. We research and share knowledge about the many and varied types of trees we might grow in New Zealand to produce a useful crop, be it for people, animals or protecting our environment. We are for home gardeners, small-block holders, horticulturists, farmers, scientists and all who are interested in growing productive trees.
