Many people do not know that Palmerston North Parents Centre (PNPC) is a not-for-profit volunteer-run organisation. Our childbirth education (antenatal) classes are taught by qualified and paid Childbirth Educators, however the running of our Centre is done by a 20+ strong team of passionate Mums and Dads who generously volunteer their time to help with: enrolments and memberships, hostessing antenatal classes, ordering and coordinating our resources, putting together the Palmy Parent magazine, and coordinating postnatal seminars, fundraising activities and Move to Music classes. We have been running in the Manawatu since 1954 – over 60 years! We are one of over 50 Parents Centres in New Zealand, who all come under the umbrella of Parents Centre New Zealand Inc (PCNZ). Parents Centre NZ started in 1952, which makes us one of the most established Centres. And, with over 220 members each year, we are also one of the largest Centres.
