This might involve: Listening to someone dealing with the shock of a crime or sudden trauma, assisting a bereaved family with the coronial or funeral process, supporting a person or family through a trial, ensuring victims get any financial assistance they are eligible for and/or referrals to other support services. Once you have qualified to take cases of your own, you will receive referrals during your agreed roster time and remain in contact with the victims assigned to you for as long as they need your support. Support Workers will often visit victims in their home, at the Police Station, at the scene of an incident and/or provide support over the phone.
