Newtown Community and Cultural Centre managed by Volunteer Wellington

Logo for Volunteer Wellington

The Newtown Tool Library is a library of tools, promoting access over ownership and reducing waste by stopping people having to buy a tool they may only use once! It is run by our awesome volunteer Tool Librarians and based out of a custom space, on Constable Street in Newtown. Library opening hours are presently 5-7pm Weds and 11-1pm Sat (Saturday hours may change). Tool Librarians welcome visiting members and visitors and assist with tasks relating to lending and membership. These tasks include but are not limited to: Opening and closing the Tool Library - setting up and packing down the space; Facilitating the lending and return of borrowed items; Having friendly conversations with members and visitors; Signing up potential new members that visit during opening hours; Helping at Repair Cafes held every three months on Saturdays during open hours (if available!); Collecting and publishing stories from members about their projects helped by Tool Library resources. There is a roster of volunteers so you can sign up to do the shifts that suit you.
