We are looking for volunteer lawyers in Lower Hutt. Our volunteer lawyers come from all fields of law and many provide advice, through our general sessions, on all non-commercial areas of the law, or specialist knowledge to specific sessions, such as employment, family, or immigration law. Community Law Wellington & Hutt Valley is a great place to meet people who care about justice. Volunteering at Community Law enables you to learn about strategies for social change, and makes sure the community has better access to the legal system. Lawyers can volunteer on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis.

Below are a list of our current vacancies. Employment lawyer on Tuesday evening 5pm-7pm for Employment session. Tenancy lawyer on Thursday 12pm - 2pm session for Tenancy session. Family lawyer on Monday 10am-12pm for Family session. Friday 12pm-1pm for Advice for Women session. Refugee and immigration lawyer on Wednesday 12-2pm RILAS session (training provided, you do not need to be an immigration lawyer to apply for this). You can volunteer on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly basis. Minimum time commitment: The time taken to induct and train new volunteers means that we ask for a commitment of at least 1 year volunteering with us. Recognition of long service occurs at 3 years, 5 years and 10 years.
