At Habitat for Humanity, we aim to make a difference by addressing inadequate and unaffordable housing, partnering with communities to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. This is achieved through a range of our programmes, such as Progressive Home Ownership, Home Repairs, Social Rentals, Healthy Homes and the Curtain Bank plus more, to benefit local Kiwi families.

A substantial part of our funding for our projects comes from the income we make from running our ReStores Charity stores that sell quality second-hand goods along with items created by our own Pallet Project team.

Our group of passionate volunteers strip pallets and turn them into wooden wonders like planters, bird boxes, cutting boards, bird feeders, Christmas trees and a lot more! Operating from our workshop in East Tamaki, they lovingly supply all our ReStores across Auckland and Whangarei with their awesome creations.

At times you may be requested to assist our build team on small projects out in the community which is also very rewarding.

Ideally you will have build or trade skills and experience and love to help guide others and organise projects. The team meet regularly on weekdays for part of the day so if you have capacity to join us 2 - 3 days during the week, please make contact with us.

Training will be provided.

Key responsibilities are as follows: • Maintaining workshop tools and equipment • Leading volunteers on workshop projects • Health and safety management
• Building items out of recycled pallets to be sold in our charity stores • Repairing donated furniture ready for sale • Other maintenance and ad hoc jobs around Habitat for Humanity’s site in Otara • Preferably a minimum of 2 days per week. Days/hours can be flexible
• Must have experience and confidence with both hand and power tools and equipment such as drop saws, sanders and table saws. • Chance to join an awesome team to make a difference
