Otari-Wilton Bush managed by Volunteer Wellington

Logo for Volunteer Wellington

Otari-Wilton's Bush is a six-star Garden of International Significance, encompassing 100 hectares of mature native forest and native botanic gardens. With garden paths, forest tracks, picnic and barbecue lawns and the Tane Whakapiripiri Visitor Centre, Otari is hugely popular with both the Wellington community and visitors from further afield, from families to botanists and conservationists.

The role of a weekend host includes greeting visitors, giving information and advice about what to do in Otari, handing out brochures and retailing books and cards. The role is based at the Tane Whakapiripiri Visitor Centre but hosts are welcome to move around the lawns and tracks to interact with visitors. You'll work on a roster, either morning or afternoon shifts (2.5 hours each, two people per shift). Here's your chance to be an ambassador for this special place, and enhance the knowledge and experience of all visitors.
