Volunteer Gardener for Older Person Day Programme

Logo for Enliven Nelson

Enliven’s day programmes provide a friendly, relaxed and fun environment to socialise, keep active and stay connected with the community.

Designed for older people living alone or with family, the programme gives you a chance to get out of the house and enjoy a range of activities with others at a similar stage of life. In Nelson we have two clubs - Totara and Harakeke. Totara club is a day programme for older people who are at risk of becoming isolated and lonely. Harakeke is are similar to Tōtara Clubs but are specifically for older people/kaumātua who have memory loss and dementia.

The gardens are the joy and sanctuary of the members of the Enliven day programme but the garden looks a bit sad and the weeds are threatening to take centre stage. We would love the gardens to be colorful and flourish for our group members to enjoy every day!

We would love a volunteer to come in once or twice a week to maintain our gardens. This includes, weeding, watering and mowing the small lawn. It would be great if you enjoy the company of older people and want to share your passion of gardening with them.

We offer all our volunteers a great team with 20+ volunteer base. We provide morning and/or afternoon tea for all our volunteers.

The hours are flexible but will need to be in office hours: Monday-Friday between 9am and 4pm.
