If you would like to assist the Hikitia (our steam powered heavy lift floating crane at the Taranaki Street Wharf, near Te Papa) become a fully functioning ship by her 100th birthday in 2026, then we have plenty of volunteer roles on board. We are looking for volunteers are who are enthusiastic and willing to give things a go. We have tasks in all aspects of maintenance from descaling, general preparation and painting through to welding, carpentry and rigging/rope work.
