Hutt Radio is owned by a registered charity and is not-for-profit. We provide community radio to the Hutt Valley on 88.3FM and across the world via the iHeart Radio app. We pay our bills like most other stations that receive no government funding: by selling advertising.

Our clients are mostly small businesses just like us, and providing them with advertising that works is an important aspect of our community support.

We are looking for a creative copywriter to write clear and concise copy for radio ads. That means you'll have 30 to 60 seconds to capture the listener's attention and deliver an effective message that motivates them to support the client. This is a key role in the small team whose work underpins everything else we do, because it allows us to keep the lights on.

Our ideal candidate is a team-spirited, skilled and imaginative writer with an eye for detail. If you can grasp project requirements quickly and offer valuable insight, we’d like to talk to you.

  • Write clear, attractive copy with a distinct voice
  • Interpret copywriting briefs to understand project requirements
  • Collaborate with producers and voiceover artists on large- and small-scale marketing projects
  • If necessary, research the product or service to understand its key selling points
  • Edit and proofread copy as needed

Generally, you'll have up to 48 hours to write an ad, but we're always flexible and have a team who can back you up and take over if you need some downtime.

You can work from home - all you need is a reliable internet connection and a program that you can write with (anything from Notepad to Word is fine, or you can write straight into an email).
