Due to retirement and rotation within our Board, Dress for Success Hamilton (DFSH) are looking to appoint the following Board Trustee roles to accelerate our strategic priorities:

  • Board Chair
  • Finance (Treasurer capability)
  • General Trustee/s

Your Role

The Board’s role is primarily that of governance and direction with each member holding a portfolio of work. With only two part-time employees, we can also be fairly hands on when required. This may be through supporting fundraising, organising and running events, representing at third party events and when needed engaging appropriately with the business. A willingness to invest time into building understanding and contributing to those services is required.

Our Organisation

DFSH started its operations in 2002 and is now one of nine New Zealand affiliates and one of 144 affiliates operating in 22 countries. DFS is an international not-for-profit organisation that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Governance experience is essential.
  • A practical knowledge of fiscal responsibility, strategic planning and portfolio delivery.
  • Availability to commit at least ten hours per month, including attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings, and special events as they arise.
  • Passion and advocacy for the organisation's mission and representing DFSH at community events and functions.
  • Work closely with management to see strategic plans executed.
  • Previous experience in not-for-profit management or fundraising is an asset.
  • Build partnerships with local businesses and organisations, exploring creative ways to secure funding and support for DFSH’s programs and services.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry trends, issues, and best practices to ensure the organisation remains effective and adaptable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
