Creative Bytes

Creative Bytes is a registered charity working towards closing the digital divide amongst disadvantaged students by fusing creative arts and technology. The rapid development of the digital economy is emerging at a time when young students still experience social and economic barriers to technological participation.

We are seeking an engaging teacher to assist us in delivering the coding program via the Whangarei Central Library later this year. We are writing this on behalf of the library who will deliver the program and coordinate with you.

Tasks and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Teach students how to create their own game using a structured curriculum
  • Ensuring the safety and security of students, staff and premises at all times
  • Assisting with setting up the games and equipment at the start and end of each session.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience with coding.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Able to use initiative.
  • Trustworthy, honest and have high levels of personal and professional integrity and confidentiality.
  • Be hardworking, hands on, energetic and friendly.
