Artist
Land Information Freehold Education Trust managed by Volunteer Wellington

We are currently seeking a talented and thoughtful Volunteer Artist to support the visual development of the Toi Whakapapa Educational Programme. Toi Whakapapa is a creative, immersive learning experience designed to connect youth to their ancestry, family stories and Whakapapa to Maori land. Told through memories of parents, homes, letterboxes, backyards and kitchens - exploring a key question asked by the Maori Land Court: what is your relationship to your whanau and whenua in the absence of a will.
We are looking for a Maori artist who can translate who can translate the five core family traditions - the family tree, parents' homes, kitchens, backyards, and letterboxes - into engaging, age-appropriate visual artworks for students aged 7-9, 11-12, and 13-18. These artworks will be used as trusted, high-quality learning resources to help rangatahi explore whakapapa, express identity, and build confidence in sharing their stories with whaanau and community. The artist will be responsible for creating a cohesive set of original visual artworks and illustrations that align with existing educational content and learning objectives. These visuals will be used across both in-person classroom settings and online learning environments. We are particularly interested in an artist who can adapt visual complexity, tone, and symbolism to suit different age groups while maintaining cultural integrity and consistency across the programme.
