Volunteer Storyteller / Content Creator Internship

The Student Volunteer Army is looking for a creative storyteller to help us capture and share the real impact of volunteering across Aotearoa.

This role is ideal for a student or early-career creative who loves creating meaningful content, spotting powerful moments, and turning real stories into videos, posts, newsletters, and campaigns that inspire others to take action.

At SVA, incredible things happen every day — young people showing up, communities coming together, and small actions creating real change. We are looking for someone who can help bring those stories to life.

About the role

As our Volunteer Storyteller / Content Creator Intern, you will help create content that showcases the energy, impact, and people behind SVA’s work.

You may be involved in:

*Creating short-form video content for social media

  • Writing engaging social media captions and posts
  • Helping develop newsletters and campaign content
  • Capturing stories from volunteers, clubs, schools, and communities
  • Turning real impact moments into content that inspires young people
  • Experimenting with fresh creative ideas, formats, and storytelling styles
  • Supporting SVA’s wider communications and marketing work

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys storytelling, content creation, and social media
  • Can create videos, posts, or written content that people want to engage with
  • Has a good eye for meaningful moments and human stories
  • Is creative, proactive, and willing to try new ideas
  • Communicates clearly and works well with others
  • Is passionate about community impact, volunteering, and youth leadership

Experience with video editing, social media, photography, Canva, newsletters, or copywriting would be helpful, but you do not need to be an expert. We are mainly looking for someone with creativity, energy, and a willingness to learn.

Being part of an SVA club or already registered with SVA is a bonus, but not required.
