KCA provides stock to 77 groups across the Wellington Region, including: local schools, soup kitchens, food banks, refuges, homeless support services, childcare centres, mental health support services, youth development organisations, refugee and migrant support services, and boarding houses. We are looking for a Sunday Chiller Truck Driver to join our volunteer team. Volunteering at KCA involves working as part of a team, having good timekeeping, following instructions, and good communication skills. As lifting heavy boxes is part of the role (up to 15kg per person or 20kgs between 2 people), a reasonable level of health and fitness is important. Sunday Food Rescue Chiller Truck Driver (Must be over 25, with clean Class 1 Car Full Driver's Licence). Working closely with the volunteer passenger you will be required to sort, and box donated food from local supermarkets ensuring that you check the 'use by' and the 'best before' dates before placing it into banana boxes. All donated food is also weighed for reporting purposes. KCA provides a barrel trolley to wheel the stock to the chiller truck. There is also a tail lift on the rear of the truck. Start and finish in Grenada North, truck departs Grenada North at 8.45am and arrives back at approx. 11.45am. Immediate start. Once a month commitment for a minimum of 6 months. Once you have arrived at our warehouse, our Storeman will go through with you the manifest for the shift. One-on-one training is provided and there is also a manual that you can refer to.
