They sort food donated at the supermarkets/food manufacturing locations, checking the quality and expiry dates, and recording the weights. Admin includes uploading photos of the donated food to our Facebook page, with captions. Good communication skills and heavy lifting are required (up to 20kgs between 2 people).

Applicants must have a full car drivers licence and be aged 25+. Part-time, for a minimum of 3 months, on a weekly basis (more often if you wish, and as spaces allow). Friday morning food rescue chiller truck volunteers work in teams of 2-3. They sort food donated at the supermarkets/food manufacturing locations, checking the quality and expiry dates, and recording the weights. Good communication skills and heavy lifting are required (up to 20kgs between 2 people).

Volunteers will need their own transport to get to and from KCA's depot in Grenada North, as there is no public transport nearby. Once a month commitment on a Sunday afternoon from 4.30pm to 6pm making up boxes of food to be distributed to local foodbanks, soup kitchens across the Greater Wellington region. In the spirit of transparency, none of our volunteers are eligible or allowed to take any of the donated food or goods themselves.

Care for the Community - do you have a desire to make a difference, to help create strong, supportive, sustainable communities for children and their families? Volunteers are needed for sorting incoming donations. During this shift you may be required to match clothing, furniture and whiteware with orders for the various partner agencies that we distribute stock to.

A minimum commitment of 3 months is required for these shifts. This role involves processing all incoming donations - these can be anything from clothing and food, to furniture and whiteware. You'll also assist with making up orders from the 77 agencies we distribute to. A great phone manner is required and you must be able to use a smart phone. This role can involve heavy lifting, so you must also be reasonably fit. Volunteers need their own transport as we are not on a public transport route.

Team player wanted as part of a team of 2-3 on once-monthly Sunday food rescue shifts. This food rescue team travels in the KCA chiller truck to the Johnsonville School Farmers Market, every Sunday, rain or shine. The team collects all good-quality donated food and delivers it to the chiller room at our depot in Grenada North. Training is provided. Volunteers must be reasonably fit. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required for this shift.
